'This ink becomes visible or invisible at a certain temperature'
What is thermochromic ink?
Thermochromic ink responds to temperature changes by showing a color change. There are reversible thermochromic inks and irreversible thermochromic inks to achieve visible or invisible effects.
Reversible thermochromic ink
Color change when the temperature is raised, then appears as the original color when the temperature is lowered. The color of the ink depends on the condition temperature and any change in temperature leads to different colors. This thermochromic effect is reversible. As soon as the temperature has been lowered below a certain temperature change point, the original color appears. It can be subdivided into "color to invisible", "color to color" and "invisible to color".
Irreversible thermochromic ink
These inks change color permanently when they are activated by a temperature rise above their activation point, and change from a colorless to a colored state. The response is irreversible.
Various temperatures are possible in different colors from which a choice can be made.
The effectiveness of this ink is mainly determined by the amount of ink that is applied. We can apply a relatively thick layer of ink to our sheets of gravure press, making this technique perfect to achieve the desired effect.
